Baby Ballet is where it all starts. Ballet is the core of all forms of dance. Our youngest students start to develop rhythm, the early feet and arm positions, a sense of group work and development of fun and imagination. These classes also aim to encourage social skills and enhance coordination. We believe it is important for these introductory lessons to have a live pianist to accompany the children as we have discovered this helps with musicality and rhythmical understanding.
Ballet is the core dance form which assists with the learning of all disciplines of dance. Students quickly develop strength, flexibility, posture and discipline as they advance through the grades. We follow the ISTD syllabus which allows aspiring dancers to learn the basics right up to the advanced stages of training and beyond. For those that wish to eventually perform professionally or teach, classical ballet training is a must.
Contemporary Dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including Modern, Jazz, Lyrical and Classical Ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. These classes will help students connect their dance ability with emotions and the qualities hidden within the music.

Disco is a fast paced, freestyle dance style that originates from disco dancing in the 70's. However since then the dance form is full of short combinations, fast high paced technical work and also builds stamina and is a very physical subject. Full of high leaps, energetic turns and work that requires to build strength and flexibility it is a nice contrast to it's similar style like modern and jazz.
Jazz is an exciting extension of ISTD modern dance. Often fast and choreographed to up-to-the-minute music, jazz is the beginning of commercial choreography and musical theatre training. An important subject for those who wish to pursue a career in the performing arts.
Modern theatre dance is the foundation of Jazz, Street Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary dance forms. This subject gives more depth to movement, increased flexibility and is a vibrant way to express yourself to lively music. Once again, it helps to develop confidence, flow, coordination and strength, whilst being fun & exhilarating at the same time.
National is folk dancing focussing on styles of dancing found all over the world. The classes involve learning about different countries and appreciating the forms of each countries official style of national dance. The dances include solo, partner and group work and is a very interesting subject which students learn not only about the geography of the dance but about the culture and lifestyle of the countries they study.
Pointe Work is for the more advanced student who will be encouraged to start pointe classes when our ballet teachers feel the individual is strong enough and have reached an appropriate level in their technique. This is covered in the more senior lessons as part of the syllabus work however we have a separate class to make sure students have time to really practice and learn strengthening footwork particularly for this section of the ballet curriculum. The class consists of foot strengthening, exercises for balance, core work and learning the progression and correct usage of demi pointe and full pointe in their work.
